Laura
Tarbox, CFP: 2000
marks Laura’s 21st year in financial planning.
A UCLA graduate, Laura received her CFP in 1983.
She is President of Tarbox Equity, Inc., which she founded in
1985. Tarbox Equity, Inc.
employs a staff of ten and offers financial advisory and investment
management services on a fee-only basis in Newport Beach, CA.
Laura
has served as a Director on the National Board of the Institute of
Certified Financial Planners, and is a past President of the Orange
County Society of the ICFP. She
has been part of the adjunct faculty of the College for Financial
Planning, USC and California Lutheran University, and currently teaches
financial planning classes in the certificate program at UC Irvine,
where she started a successful Financial Planning Internship program in
1994. Laura is the Program
Advisor to the UCI financial planning program; among her duties are
curriculum development and counseling students on career direction.
In 1997 Laura was chosen from over 800 UCI Extension instructors
to receive the Distinguished Instructor Award.
From
1998-1999 Laura served on the Charles Schwab Institutional Advisory
Board. She currently serves
on the Certified Financial Planner Board of Examiners.
Since 1991, Laura has participated with the CFP Board in the
development of the CFP exam, as an expert in investments, retirement
planning and employee benefits.
Formerly
host of the weekly radio talk show "Money with Laura Tarbox"
on K-ORG 1190 AM, Laura has been featured in numerous magazine and news
articles, and has made educational videotapes on financial and
retirement planning for major corporations and educational institutions.
She is frequently featured in the local and national media as an
expert on financial planning and investments, and often speaks at
industry meetings on the financial advisory business.
Laura’s
volunteer charitable activities include participation on American
Cancer Society’s Gift and Estate Planning Advisory Board, Laguna
Canyon Foundation’s Gift and Estate Planning and Investments
Committees, and the Board of SoundAid, a non-profit foundation
dedicated to helping improve the lives of children living in poverty.
Laura
Tarbox was recognized as one of the “Best Financial Advisors” in the
country by Worth magazine in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.
