David R. Petersen, CFP: David founded Financial Services Advisory, Inc. in 1982 and has been managing client assets for over twenty-five years.  His company's service is founded upon the belief that successful investing requires an active, disciplined management strategy.  He has developed a program that emphasizes taking advantage of advancing markets, adapting to changing markets, and protecting capital in declining markets by applying a sell discipline of stop-losses to preserve wealth.  In short, as David has often said, "Preserving money is just as important as making it."

David has gained a considerable amount of media attention over the years from publications such as Barrons, Business Week, The Washington Post, Personal Financial Planning, and others for the company's active management strategy:  knowing when and what to buy and when and what to sell.  He has been included in The Washingtonian's list of Top Investment Advisers since 2002.  FSA's stop-loss system has protected clients' assets and through reducing market positions at the onsets of bear markets in 1987, 1990, 2000, 2001, and 2002.

David earned his undergraduate degree in Finance, with emphasis in Investments, Taxation, and Financial Planning, from Brigham Young University and proceeded to earn the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.  He is a member of the Financial Planning Association as well as the Council of Independent Financial Advisors.
